Fear of the Dark is the ninth studio album by English heavy metal band Iron Maiden, released on 11 May 1992. It was a significant release for the band, being their third album to top the UK Albums Chart and the last to feature lead vocalist Bruce Dickinson before his departure in 1993 (he eventually returned in 1999).

• Production: This was the first Iron Maiden album produced by bassist and founder Steve Harris and the final one featuring longtime producer Martin Birch, who retired after its release.
• Artwork: It was the first album cover not designed by the band's regular artist, Derek Riggs. Instead, the band chose an illustration by Melvyn Grant, which depicted the mascot Eddie as a threatening, tree-like creature.
• Musical Style: The album is noted for experimenting with different sounds, including the band's first power ballad, "Wasting Love".
