The iconic four symbols associated with Led Zeppelin first appeared on the inner sleeve of their untitled fourth album, released in 1971. Each band member chose or designed a personal emblem to represent themselves in place of names or a traditional album title.

The Four Band Member Symbols

("Zoso"): Often referred to as "Zoso," this symbol's exact meaning remains a mystery. It is widely believed to be an alchemical or astrological sigil for Saturn, the ruling planet of Page's zodiac sign, Capricorn.
(Feather in Circle): Features the feather of Ma’at, the ancient Egyptian goddess of truth and justice. Plant has stated it represents a writer (as a quill) and originates from the ancient, legendary civilization of Mu.
(Triquetra): A single circle intersecting three interlocking ovals (a triquetra) found in Rudolf Koch's Book of Signs. It symbolizes a person who possesses both confidence and competence.
(Three Interlocking Circles): Also from the Book of Signs, these circles represent the trinity of mother, father, and child. Inverted, the symbol famously resembles the logo for Ballantine beer, which reportedly amused the band.
