A Momentary Lapse of Reason is the thirteenth studio album by the English progressive rock band Pink Floyd, released on 7 September 1987. It marked a significant turning point as the band's first studio work following the departure of bassist and primary songwriter Roger Waters in 1985.

• Creative Shift: Led primarily by guitarist David Gilmour, the album moved away from the complex concept-album format favored by Waters, focusing instead on a more standard collection of songs.
• Reunion: The project saw the return of founding keyboardist Richard Wright, who had been fired by Waters during The Wall sessions, though he was initially credited only as a guest musician.
• Production: Much of the recording took place on the Astoria, David Gilmour's converted houseboat studio.
• Iconic Cover: The artwork, designed by Storm Thorgerson, famously features 800 hospital beds arranged on Saunton Sands in Devon.
