Rainbow Rising (officially titled Rising) is thesecond studio album by the British-American rock band Rainbow, released on 17 May 1976. It is widely considered one of the greatest and most influential albums in the history of hard rock and heavy metal.
The "Classic" Lineup
Following the band's debut, guitarist Ritchie Blackmore dismissed everyone except vocalist Ronnie James Dio to form what many fans consider the definitive Rainbow lineup:

Musical Impact and Legacy
The album is a cornerstone of the neoclassical metal and power metal subgenres, blending Blackmore’s classically-influenced guitar work with Dio’s fantasy-themed lyrics about wizards and medieval lore.
- Epic Scale: Side two of the original vinyl consists of just two epic tracks, both over eight minutes long: "Stargazer" and "A Light in the Black".
- "Stargazer": This track is frequently cited as the album's masterpiece, featuring a legendary drum intro by Cozy Powell and a recording by the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra.
